Upon request, I put up an image of the handlebar map holder I made for my touring bicycle.
It’s a skinny piece of plywood (or no matter you might have, different wooden, plastic, metallic) reduce out to suit normal AAA street maps. It’s hooked up to a mountain bike handlebar with a quill stem. I drilled some holes and used two [white, see picture for positioning] zip ties to connect it to the stem. I made a reduce out on the high to make room for the bolts the place the handlebar attaches to the stem so the map holder rests flat towards the handlebar with little or no flex.
The map is held to the wooden with the 4 rubber bands. Clearly it doesn’t work within the rain however it will likely be simple to trend a plastic cowl for that eventuality.If it rains, simply put the map in a ziploc bag.
